For many people, the topic of Internet, identity and information security, is a dark and nebulous area for concern. The technology they do not fully understand. The players involved have no faces. The general media is all to happy to focus on these factors and provoke fear within the general populace because it sells their papers.
The claim cannot be made that online security is a simple subject. However understanding and confidence can be increased by focusing upon what people can control, rather than scaring them with what they have little to no influence over. That will be the focus of this three part article series.
