Security Tip for March - Organising your files

Tip of the Month: March

Keep your data organised. Whilst it is easy just to run with the default location of where your PC and operating system will store your files, it is worth changing this to another folder location.

If you have multiple hard drives, or multiple partitions on the one hard drive, consider using a separate drive for your data. The advantages of this are:
- If your machine needs to be rebuilt because of a fault - you or a technician will have an easier time of completely rebuilding the drive where the operating system is, without having to worry about losing data.
- It can improve performance
- When backing up your files and data, it will make it easier to setup, or to manually perform.
- It is easier to setup host-based intrusion detection systems to monitor changes to your data files.
- It is easier to encrypt and password protect files in one location
