Continual Improvement

In the fast moving world of computing and IT, the trick to longevity is to continually improve.  Small manageable upgrades, here and there.  Take a bigger problem and break it into chunks.

And with that, I am pleased to announce that which is new version of my my first real app in the Google Play Store.  Version 2.2 of Hello IT, issues in some minor yet significant improvements, such as the ability to handle screen rotation.

Since the original version that just gave a random quote, I have matured this app based upon feedback to include the option to review which character from the hit TV series, The IT Crowd, spoke those words.  Use it to test yourself, use it to test your friends, or just use it to remind you of a favourite show.

And now, a new string for the bow

It has been a long-time coming this post.  For a considerable length of time I have been flirting with mobile apps development.  Still working my way through online tutorials, but at last I have an app of my own design, that I have published.

It is a homage to one of my all-time favourite TV series, UK Channel 4's, "The IT Crowd".  This simple app, now in its 2nd release version, is a collection of 60 quotes from the series.  You can use it to simply remind yourself of your favourite episodes, or you can use it as a trivia game and quiz your other IT Crowd friends as to which character said the quote.

For now, my mobile apps development is strictly for Android.  Perhaps sometime in the future I'll look into porting it to the iPhone.

Awesome Tutorial Site - Treehouse

Found a really awesome tutorial site - lots of interesting and challenging tutorial tracks for Android, Java, HTML and many more.  I've tried a number of them and they are really well presented, and easy to follow.
